Philadelphia High School Senior Student Body President Bre’lon Tanksley Attends Prestigious RYLA Retreat

Philadelphia, MS –Philadelphia High School Senior, Bre’lon Tanksley, had the distinct honor of attending the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Retreat, an event known for its transformative leadership development experience. Bre’lon was sponsored by the Philadelphia Rotary Club and had the opportunity to connect with fellow emerging leaders from across the region, learning valuable leadership lessons and forming lasting bonds.

Reflecting on his experience, Bre’lon shared, “RYLA, RYLA, RYLA! Calling this retreat ‘powerful’ would be an understatement. This weekend has been nothing short of transformative, creating unforgettable bonds, connecting with fellow leaders, and growing in ways I never imagined. I am beyond honored to be recognized as a leader, and my heart is filled with gratitude for the Philadelphia Rotary Club for sponsoring me and allowing me to represent our city.”

He continued, “Leadership can sometimes feel lonely, but experiences like RYLA remind me that I am never alone. There are so many passionate leaders out there, fighting for change just like I am. If I took away one lesson from this weekend, it’s that leadership isn’t about a title; it’s about showing up, taking action, and being YOU.”

As Student Body President at Philadelphia High School, Bre’lon has been an exemplary leader. He has consistently demonstrated exceptional organizational and communication skills, successfully managing school events and spearheading initiatives aimed at enhancing student engagement and well-being.
